I start on the final section of Peru with a great mentality, ready to push myself and inch my way across the country towards Bolivia. After biking for nearly a week straight, one of my worst nightmares happened in a small town, forcing me to retreat to a city to recover. Finally ready to leave again, the world has other plans and I end up stuck again for weeks.

The time had finally come to start the Peru Great Divide. I took a popular alternative near the beginning to take me to a town near Huayuash National Park where I wanted to hike for a few days. From there, I continue climbing mountains, physically and mentally. I find myself unexpectedly in Lima for some bike repair and some tough decisions.

Since Paula and I met in Bogota, we haven't gone a day without talking to each other. Badly wanting to see each other again, we planned a trip to travel around Cordillera Blanca in Peru for a week. We rented a motorcycle so we could be free to travel where and when we wanted. I planned a route while Paula booked her tickets to meet me in Caraz.

Once I had discovered the route Peru Great Divide about 4 years ago, it had been my dream to bike through Peru. It was a huge motivating factor for me even doing this trip. While I wouldn't start the PGD yet in this blog, I was immensenly excited to be in Peru.
